Spano & Slivka replacing the Gary's radar antenna during the 1965-66 cruise. (Ed. Note:  after all these years I now know who "fixed" that antenna. For I had to climb the mast while on picket station at 60 South exactly one year later to repair a broken wire in the pedestal).

So, here we are in December of 2009. George Slivka visited my home in Colorado this past October and told me his side of the story. It seems George was part of the team that removed the old antenna pedestal pictured above, but he did not install the new antenna. George said the the wrong antenna was ordered (and delivered). Subsequently the correct antenna arrived from the USA. However, George was on leave (getting in trouble) the week the new replacement antenna arrived, he wasn't part of the installation team.  OK George, you're off the hook, but we can still point a finger at Spano.
